Creating a collection
When you are going to create a collection you should include these steps in the design process:
Research - It usually takes about three week and it is the most important step in the creating of the collection. Without a good research the collection has no stable ground to stand on. This step is all about inspiration. Find what inspires you and collect as much as possible about it. Look at the trends and what has previously been shown. Choose your mood/ story /theme. You should also include fabrics and colours.
Design - Design the collection.
Development -
Editing - Take out the weakest pieces from the collection. It can be a piece that you are really prod of but you noticed in this stage that it dos not follow the rest of the collection. Sometimes it can be hard to be able to see witch pieces belong to the collection and witch do not because you have spent so much time with it. Then you can take help from other people, it could be different stylist that you show the collection for and they help you by picking out the weakest and strongest pieces according to them.
Presentation - Fashion show.
"Trickle - Down" and "Trickle Up" - Theory
The "Trickle Down" Theory is when a trend from the catwalk enters the street walk. You can see examples of this in stores like H&M, Zara, Top Shop etc. The "Trickle Up" - When a trend from the sidewalk hits the catwalk it is called the "Trickle Up" - Theory. My picture example of "Trickle - Down" is of a skirt from Zara and for "Trickle Up" it is the pyjama look that many big designers have been inspired by.
